Piggy Smash: Incremental Idle app icon Piggy Smash

Accessibility

You can play the whole game with VoiceOver, by timing instead of aim.

Playing with VoiceOver

Assist mode turns on by itself when VoiceOver is running. Every piggy on the table is something VoiceOver can find and read out: what kind it is, where it is on the table, how much health it has left, and whether it is running from the hammer. Swipe to pick one.

Then feel for the beat. When the hammer is ready, the phone taps once and you hear a soft knock. Double tap inside the window after the beat and the swing lands. Too early or too late is a miss, and a miss still uses a swing, so it is a real game of timing, not an automatic win. A two-finger double tap swings from anywhere.

After every swing you hear what happened and how many swings you have left. Coins stay on the table until you collect them, with the Collect coins button or the rotor, and nothing expires while you do. Abilities always ask before they fire.

Rotor actions

On any piggy or on the table, the Actions rotor has Swing, Collect coins, Next piggy, Previous piggy, Describe the table, and one action for each ability that is ready to use.

Choosing your swing window

Open Settings in the game, then Accessibility, then Swing window. Small, Medium or Large: the larger the window, the easier the timing. Medium is where it starts.

Playing by rhythm without VoiceOver

Assist mode is for anyone who would rather play by rhythm than by aim. Set Assist mode to On in the same Accessibility settings. Tap a piggy to swing at it, on the beat.

Hardware keyboard

With a keyboard connected in assist mode, Space swings, the left and right square brackets pick the previous or next piggy, C collects the coins, the number keys use your abilities, Return confirms and Escape cancels.

Larger text

Open Settings, then Accessibility, then Text size. Default follows your device’s text size a little way. Large and Larger make the words across the whole game bigger, and labels wrap onto a second line instead of shrinking.

Reduce Motion

With Reduce Motion turned on in your device settings, screen shake and the bigger animations are left out.

On Android

Assist mode and the swing window are on iPhone and iPad. On Android* you can pick your text size, turn on reduce motion or play in dark mode, and the game follows Android's bold text, high contrast text and colour correction settings. It does not have a TalkBack mode yet.

This website

The site is plain HTML with headings, landmarks and a skip link, so a screen reader can jump around it. Pictures that only decorate are hidden from screen readers, and the ones that show gameplay are described. There is a light and dark theme: it follows your device, and the sun and moon button in the header switches it and remembers your choice. Text and buttons keep their contrast in both, everything works from the keyboard, and animations stop if you have Reduce Motion turned on.
